The ultrasound-guided paramedian paravertebral block. In my opinion, it is one of the most technically demanding regional anesthesia procedures. Watching a truly skilled practitioner perform one is a bit like watching a master craftsman at work. It requires a deep understanding of anatomy, excellent ultrasound skills, and precise needle control, all coming together in real time.
What’s one thing you wish someone had told you at the beginning of your career?

There are far more career paths in anesthesiology than most trainees realize. You can be a clinician-scientist, an academic educator, a trauma anesthesiologist taking call or build a career in ambulatory surgery centers. I also wish someone had told me that there is no such thing as a permanently stable anesthesia job. Academic departments change leadership and cultures shift like when new chairs are hired followed by a mass exodus. Private practice groups merge, are acquired, or lose contracts. The key is to build skills, relationships, and adaptability rather than relying on any single job for long-term security. Your network is your net worth. Prioritize your reputation as an anesthesiologist.
What is a non-medical hobby you’re passionate about?

Can "gym rat" be a hobby? Health is wealth. I am passionate about fitness, nutrition, and strength training. Understanding how to exercise properly and maintain muscle mass is one of the most important investments we can make for longevity, quality of life, and healthy aging.
